Project eNiGMA

Next-Generation Maritime Archaeology Subsea Laser Scanning

Norsk Remote Sensing is thrilled to announce our partnership with the HAES (an AHEPA National Project) on an exciting project scheduled for later this year. We are proud to support the Mentor Shipwreck Excavation Programme in Kythira, Greece, in collaboration with Greek scientists and universities. Our primary objective is to advance the field of underwater archaeology and enhance artifact preservation and documentation efforts in Greece.

To achieve this goal, we will be employing cutting-edge technology, including underwater laser scanners combined with Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs) or underwater drones. This powerful combination will enable us to capture high-density 3D scans in incredible detail and accuracy. The wealth of comprehensive data collected through this approach will provide archaeologists with an unprecedented level of insight and aid in removing on-site risks, ensuring safer explorations.

Currently, we are actively seeking sponsors and donors to help fund this project. By contributing to the Mentor Shipwreck Excavation Programme, you will play a vital role in supporting underwater archaeology in Greece and advancing our understanding of the past. In recognition of your generosity, sponsors, and donors will be acknowledged in all media materials associated with this expedition.

Furthermore, we are excited to announce that we will be producing a documentary of the expedition. This film will not only showcase the remarkable capabilities of the technology but also underscore the significance of cultural and historic preservation for future generations. By highlighting the importance of safeguarding our heritage, we hope to inspire a greater appreciation for our shared history.

For more information about the Mentor Shipwreck Excavation Programme and how you can contribute, please visit thehaes.org or contact us at info@thehaes.org. We invite you to make a tax-deductible donation at thehaes.org/donate/.

For those residing outside the United States, you can also make a direct deposit in Greece using the following information: IBAN: GR4702602060000120201716778.

We extend our sincere gratitude to all supporters and donors who join us in this noteworthy endeavor. Together, we can make a lasting impact on underwater archaeology and contribute to the preservation of Greece's rich cultural heritage.
